Every school seeks to enroll mission aligned students who will not only benefit from the academic and co-curricular program but who will also contribute to the school community. But how should schools ensure they are making good decisions about admission candidates that limits sources of inherent bias? Nathan Kuncel, The Marvin D. Dinnet Distinguished Professor, University of Minnesota, and Booth Kyle, Associate Head of School & Admissions and Financial Aid Director, Lakeside School, and incoming head of Indian Creek School join us to share how they partnered to reduce bias in the admission process.

By implementing a structured interview approach and layering it with the Character Skills Snapshot, Lakeside’s admission team achieved their goal of reducing bias, all the while adding more perspective to the admission process and increasing predictive power. This episode will be valuable for schools seeking to completely revamp their process or who are simply looking for a few tweaks.
