Addressing Socioeconomic Diversity: Bridges to Success for Underrepresented Students in Independent Schools

One of the most challenging to grapple with is addressing the nuances of socioeconomic diversity. Students who receive financial aid often find themselves under a spotlight that can make already difficult transitions, including ones pertaining to social/emotional issues, that much harder. NPEA, the Cate School, and Rainier Scholars, a community-based organization, have identified strategies to ensure students receiving financial aid are supported and included on campus. This presentation includes best practices and action items for how schools can build or enhance a positive culture for socioeconomic diversity.
