A Quantitative Admission Interview

August 6, 2019

With John Valenzuela, Associate Director of Admission, Ojai Valley School The standard admission interview investigates common themes in an applicant’s presentation. Standard questions produce standard responses. Differentiating potential in an applicant boils down to a numbers game based on test scores and previous academic achievement. This approach raises the risk of accepting an applicant whose social and character development are not a good fit for an institution. Through this data-driven approach to the interview, predicting success in key areas then is less related to what an applicant has represented, and more to how they have presented themselves.
