The EMA board of trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of four new trustees beginning their terms this July 1. Laurel Baker Tew, governance committee chair, said, “We had some tough decisions to make with an incredibly talented pool of applicants for these four positions.  I'm thrilled that these highly competent and experienced individuals will be joining us this summer.” Please join us in welcoming:

Jenna Rogers Kingthe director of admission and enrollment at Riverdale Country School (NY), where she has worked since September 2004. During her time at the school, Jenna has also run the upper school advisor program, taught French and history, served as the director of community service, and coached track and cross country. Prior to her years at Riverdale, Jenna spent three years as a teacher, coach, and dorm parent at Suffield Academy (CT). Jenna has worked closely with Riverdale’s head of school on character skills research and collaboration with Dr. Angela Duckworth and Dave Levin, co-founder of KIPP.  Jenna is an active member of  the EMA Admission Leadership Council and served on the working group that developed the Character Skills Snapshot. She is a member of the board of the Independent School Admission Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). Jenna holds a BA in art history and French from Dartmouth College and an MA in private school leadership from the Klingenstein Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. 

Americus Reed, II, the Whitney M. Young Jr., professor of marketing at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he has served on the faculty since 2000. An avid fitness enthusiast, part time drummer, and tireless educator, Americus’ primary research and consulting areas are in brand equity and identity loyalty – the study of creating and fostering “brand communities” that transcend the utilitarian aspects of products to actualize iconic levels of symbolic identity and self-expression; connect to deep levels of emotional and social affiliation; and cultivate lifelong relationships with consumers. In 2005, his academic work in this area received honorable mention for the prestigious Robert Ferber Award for academic impact in the Journal of Consumer Research (JCR) and in 2009 he received JCR’s Best Paper Award. Americus has authored more than 50 articles, book chapters, and cases on the topic. He teaches customer analysis, branding, and consumer psychology to undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and executive students.

Sandra E. Timmons, president of A Better Chance since 2003. Since taking the helm, Sandra has significantly strengthened A Better Chance to increase the number of students it serves, enrich the overall student experience, reaffirm and invigorate relationships with program partners, accelerate fund development efforts, and heighten A Better Chance’s visibility in many communities. Prior to joining A Better Chance, Sandra was chief operating officer of Girls Inc., a national nonprofit organization focused on the empowerment of girls and young women.  Before joining Girls Inc., Sandra was chief of staff at the College Board and also held management positions at Honeywell. Sandra’s professional background has been enriched through a broad range of volunteer work with community, professional, and religious organizations.  She currently serves on the board of the New Brunswick Theological Seminary. Sandra earned a Bachelor of Arts in business/economics with a concentration in accounting from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science in public policy analysis and management with a concentration in finance from Carnegie-Mellon University.

Victoria Muradithe director of enrollment management and admissions at Durham Academy (NC) since 2007. She has led the PK-12 school in shifting from an admission to an enrollment management model, determining optimum school size, and studying the comprehensive cost of attendance beyond tuition. Before coming to Durham Academy, she worked in admission and financial aid at the boarding school and college levels, including at Smith College and The University of Virginia. She holds a B.A. from Smith College and a M.Ed. from Harvard University. In her 15 years of involvement with EMA, Victoria has served as a mentor, a member of the Admission Leadership Council (ALC), and as a faculty member on both the Admission Training Institute (ATI) and the Admission Directors Institute (ADI).
