Viewbook vs. Reality: A New Diversity Lens for Admission

August 7, 2019

Kim Scott, Director of Admissions Lower/Middle School, Georgetown Day School, DC Lisa Shambaugh, Director of Admission, St. Andrew's Episcopal School, MD As admission professionals, we are charged with maintaining full enrollment while increasing the diversity in the student body. The tools required to create and support a diverse school community are many—and require partnerships far beyond the admission office. How are students and families of color supported in your school? What is your school’s history? What is your personal understanding of diversity? In this presentation, we present a model for taking an inventory of your admission process, resulting in a more complete understanding of the admission office’s role in supporting diverse schools.
