A Message from Heather Hoerle About the Texas School Shooting

May 25, 2022 Heather Hoerle

Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday, our nation once again witnessed another senseless act of gun violence that killed 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. This is a painful reminder of increasing gun violence in our society. Schools should be sanctuaries for children and educators where trust, kindness, and positive energy are distributed in equal measure. Instead, yesterday, we saw that sanctuary upended.

As educators, you and your entire staff have taken on more than ever before to ensure the safety and well-being of your students. I know the work you are engaged in is supported by your deep commitment to creating safe and successful outcomes for all children

As we reel from such tragic news, please take care of yourself and know that EMA stands with you in seeking to ensure every child can feel safe and supported in their schools. Please know that our team will be considering your professional needs anew as we continue to evolve our training and practices to support you and your school’s needs.

In closing, EMA stands with you, your school, and your community.
